IBM Vacuum Technology 3 Nov. 2014
This is going to be interesting... I bought this vacuum tube flip flop unit on flee-bay. It processes - wait for it - one bit of information. It requires eight of these to process, yes, one character of information. I plan on building a frame to hold the print ad and mount the tube bit unit just in front of the print ad.
I may add this as well. This is a 400 bit ferrite core memory card from the 1950s. This card stores 50 characters of information and is clearly smaller than 400 of the tube units. Another flee-bay purchase. The currency is a standard $300 bill from the movie Blade Runner. Each bit of information is held as a magnetic field within each ferrite toroid.

I ground out a quick and dirty little frame for this tube and advertisement. The box is mahogany which does not require a stain to look nice. Rubber bands are acting as clamps as the glue dries. After setting up, here it is with the tube assembly and print ad. I have decided to not add the core memory - however interesting, it does not add to the concept. I will build something special to hold it later.

This went well... I mounted the tube assembly into the frame on a small custom bracket and applied the finish. Here it is!

Even the back looks nice.
