Brass Chain 30 July 2019
This is apt to be a long term project, as I have no clear need for this chain, but I have 18 feet of 1/8" brass rod. So I annealed the brass and set up on my lathe to turn three coils around a 1/4" steel rod. The coils will be cut into little links and joined into a chain by silver soldering the links. I had three 6 foot sections of the rod and you can see that my technique improved drastically each section. I set the lathe for 8 turns per inch and let the lathe draw in the brass rod.
This should produce about 48" of chain.
